Never drive when you’re under the influence of alcohol!

It is reported that a police corporal on duty died after a suspected drunk driver rammed into him at a roadblock near the Kajang Selatan Toll Plaza on the Lekas Expressway early this morning.

The 44-year-old suspect, who was driving a Toyota Hilux, was also injured, and is receiving treatment at the Serdang Hospital. He has yet to lodge a report.

The victim, Corporal Safwan Muhammad Ismail was sent flying “several metres up in the air, before he fell and was pinned underneath the suspect’s 4WD vehicle”, reports NST. 

According to Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan, the victim was severely injured at the head before he died at the scene. He was only 31 years old.

 The victim's body was taken to the same hospital for a post-mortem.

“Based on a report from the person in charge of the MCO roadblock, police have already opened an investigation paper over the incident,” said Mohd Zaid.
