Before You Pay For Health Screening, Check If You Qualify For This FREE PERKESO Benefit!

By GMYOfficial

When was the last time you went for a health screening? If your answer is "I can't remember" or "Too expensive lah", here's something you might want to know!

Did you know that the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) offers free health screenings to eligible Malaysian workers?

Through its Health Screening Programme (HSP), eligible contributors can undergo health checks to identify potential health risks early, without having to pay for the standard screening package.

Here's everything you need to know, including who's eligible, what's covered and how to book your screening!

What Is PERKESO's Health Screening Programme?

PERKESO's Health Screening Programme (HSP) is an initiative designed to help eligible workers detect potential health problems before they become more serious.

The programme focuses on identifying risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Instead of waiting until symptoms appear, eligible workers can take advantage of this programme to better understand their health and take preventive action.

The best part? The eligible screening package is completely free!

Who Is Eligible For The Free Health Screening?

Before you rush to book an appointment, it's important to know that not every PERKESO contributor automatically qualifies.

Under PERKESO's published HSP 3.0 eligibility criteria, applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Be a Malaysian citizen.

- Be aged between 40 and 59.

- Be an active contributor under PERKESO's Invalidity Scheme.

- Have contributed for at least 12 months, including a contribution in the current year.

If you're unsure whether you qualify, don't worry! You can check your eligibility through the SEHATi app before making an appointment.

What Does The Free Health Screening Cover?

This isn't just a simple blood pressure check!

Depending on your eligibility and the applicable screening package, PERKESO's HSP may cover several health assessments, including:

- Blood tests: To assess health indicators such as blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

- Urine tests: To help identify potential health abnormalities.

- Physical examinations: To assess your general health condition.

- Mental health screening: To identify potential mental health concerns.

- Doctor's consultation: To review your health findings and receive medical advice.

- Women's health screenings: Pap smears or mammograms for eligible women.

The exact tests available may vary according to your eligibility and the programme's screening requirements.

How To Apply For Your Free Health Screening?

Good news! You don't necessarily have to visit a PERKESO office just to check whether you're eligible.

PERKESO has a dedicated health screening app called SEHATi, which allows users to check their eligibility, locate participating clinics and manage their screening appointments.

Here's how to get started:

Step 1: Download the SEHATi app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Step 2: Register for an account or log in if you already have one.

Step 3: Check your eligibility for PERKESO's Health Screening Programme.

Step 4: If you're eligible, find and select a participating clinic.

Step 5: Arrange your appointment and attend your health screening.

You can also use the app to view your screening results once they're available.

Is The Health Screening Really Free?

Yes! For eligible contributors, the standard HSP screening package is provided free of charge.

However, there's one thing you should keep in mind.

While the approved screening package is covered, additional tests or optional screening services may come with extra charges.

For example, SEHATi's published 2026 screening information lists an optional RM30 add-on for selected tests.

So, before agreeing to any additional screening services, always check with the participating clinic to understand what's included and whether extra charges apply.

What Happens After Your Health Screening?

Once you've completed your screening, you can check your results through the SEHATi app when they're available.

It's also important to review your findings with the doctor, especially if any potential health concerns are identified.

Depending on your results, the doctor may recommend lifestyle changes, further examinations or follow-up treatment.

Remember, the purpose of health screening isn't just to find out whether you're healthy today. It's also about identifying potential problems early so you can take action before they become more serious.

Don't Wait Until You're Sick To Start Caring For Your Health!

Between work, family responsibilities and everyday commitments, it's easy to put our health at the bottom of our priority list.

But taking care of yourself doesn't always have to involve expensive medical packages.

If you're already contributing to PERKESO and meet the eligibility requirements, why not make use of a benefit that could help you stay on top of your health?

Download the SEHATi app, check your eligibility and see whether you qualify for a free health screening!

And if you know someone who might be eligible, share this article with them. A simple reminder could encourage someone to take better care of their health.

For the latest eligibility requirements and screening arrangements, refer to PERKESO's official information and the SEHATi app.
