A worker at the Herbs Garden, Kenyir Lake, was alarmed when encountering a sun bear while riding a motorcycle at Pengkalan Gawi, Hulu Terengganu. In the incident at 8:15 a.m., Muhammad Rafzee Zulkiflee, 23, immediately turned back and sped up his bike to save himself.
"At the time of the incident, I was riding a motorcycle to buy breakfast at a restaurant in Pengkalan Gawi. Upon arriving at the downhill lane, I encountered a sun bear roaming near the main entrance to Tasik Kenyir," he said when contacted by Kosmo! today.
A 10-second video clip of a sun bear roaming at Pengkalan Gawi went viral. Muhammad Rafzee said he was alarmed because his motorcycle was only 100 meters from the wild animal.
He quickly applied the brakes before speeding back to save himself. About 15 minutes later, he bravely returned to the location and found that the sun bear was no longer visible.
"I suspect the wild animal has re-entered the nearby forest area, he said."
