While a packet of nasi lemak can cost nearly RM5 in urban areas, several locations across Malaysia still offer prices as low as RM1.50. A recent TikTok video shared by @/damianajunpakartilam surprised viewers by highlighting this stark price difference. Expressing her amazement at the affordability of nasi lemak in Kedah, the woman recounted her experience in the video. 

"I swear I experienced culture shock coming to Kedah. I asked the auntie - I gave RM5.00, and she returned RM3.50. Is this nasi only RM1.50?" she exclaimed incredulously.

The TikTok video quickly gained traction among netizens, drawing attention to the remarkably low prices of food items in Kedah. Many users chimed in, confirming that such prices are standard in the region. Some even shared insights into other affordable food options, such as shops selling chicken rice for as low as RM1.20.

Netizens also expressed their eagerness to indulge in the affordable delicacies whenever they visit Kedah. However, she admitted feeling reluctant to accept the change from her purchase, as the amount returned by the vendor far exceeded the cost of nasi lemak in other areas. 

This further underscored the notable disparity in food prices between different regions of Malaysia.
