WhatsApp Gets New ‘View Once’ Update | More Users’ Privacy

04-Aug-2021
By m7py

If you've updated WhatsApp on your phone, you'll probably be wondering what's changed!

The latest update stays hidden until you decide to send a photo or video to another number.

Yes, Whatsapp has activated its `View Once' feature to automatically delete any media after it has been viewed.

Your media CANNOT be saved, shared, forwarded, or starred by your recipients unless you don't set the media to 'View Once' mode.

The 'View Once' feature has to be set each time to make your media disappear after the recipient opens it and exits the media viewer.

Here's how:

1. Open an individual or group chat.

2. Tap Attach. Browse or snap a photo or video on Whatsapp.

3. On the 'Add a caption...' bar, tap on a circle icon with the number '1' in it.

4. Tap Send.

Watch the demo in the video below.

You'll see an Opened receipt if your recipient has viewed the media.

However, people could still take screenshots or screen recordings of the media for their safekeeping. And, you won't be notified. So, only send private photos or videos to trusted people!

Read the FAQ for the new feature here

The feature is available on Android, iPhone, KaiOS & Web and Desktop. So, go get your app updated now.
