Due to habitat destruction, pollution, and overharvesting, as well as the fact that it is prized as a delicacy and utilised in traditional Chinese medicine, giant Chinese salamanders are regarded as critically endangered. Even though it is widely farmed in central China, The majority of the breeding stock is either wild-caught or first-generation captive-bred. In fact, the Chinese government encourages the release of Chinese giant salamanders raised in captivity. However, arm-bred Salamanders are known to carry diseases and pose a danger to the other wild giant salamanders if released. In short, this species is essentially best to be left in the wild. 

That, however did not stop her, though. The controversial China influencer, more famously known as Tizi filmed the capture of two giant Chinese salamanders, both of which were more than half the size of her entire body frame. In the video, half the meat were chopped and marinated in spicy condiments while the other half is wrapped in baking foils and covered with soil before it was grilled.

Many are enraged watching the video, as it displays blatant animal abuse and mistreatment. Giant Chinese salamanders are considered a living fossil, as it has been around for 170 million years and therefore should be protected. There comes a time where boundaries should be firmly implemented, especially when it is done at the expense of a certain species continuation. Not to mention it's unnecessarily cruel.
