In a shocking and bizarre turn of events, a 32-year-old man from Gujarat, India, admitted to the police that he severed four of his own fingers out of fear of confronting his boss about quitting his job. The man, Mayur Tarapara, initially reported the incident as a road accident, but his story quickly unraveled under police scrutiny.
Mayur first approached the Amroli Police Station in Surat, claiming he had lost his fingers in an accident. According to his statement, he was riding his bike to a friend's place when he suddenly felt dizzy, passed out by the roadside, and woke up to find his fingers gone.
However, police grew suspicious when they checked CCTV footage from the area where the incident allegedly occurred. The footage revealed a completely different story Mayur was seen calmly parking his bike, walking away, and returning with his hand injured. There was no evidence of a roadside collapse or accident as he had described.
Initially, investigators considered the possibility that Mayur's fingers were taken by someone for a black magic ritual. However, inconsistencies in his story led them to dig deeper. Under pressure, Mayur confessed to the shocking truth: he had deliberately cut off his own fingers.
Mayur explained that he was working as a computer operator in a relative's diamond factory but had been feeling immense stress from the job. Too scared to confront his employer and resign, he came up with a drastic plan to make himself unfit for work.
The police revealed that Mayur had purchased a knife and carried out the act near Amroli Ring Road around 10 PM. To prevent excessive bleeding, he tied a cord around his arm, severed four of his fingers, and placed them along with the knife in a bag.
