Located along of the forever busy and filled with cars Jalan Magazine is a quiet, peaceful and vibey café that will help you escape the loud sounds of traffic and just enjoy a good time with your friends or family. 

Serving you a wide array of truly tantalizing and aesthetically pleasing Japanese and Chinese Fusion rice bowls that will take your senses of sight, smell and taste plus your tummy to cloud nine is Clock Eleven.

+ Vibe Check Results

We at Goody heard rumours through the grapevine that this place is a vibe so, we had to check it out ourselves. 

After a thorough vibe check, Goody has declared that Clock Eleven is AN ABSOLUTE VIBE. 

The exterior of the building has a wooden door, wooden windows, and grey marble-like wall, I mean, come on, that’s like number one on the vibe checklist!

It gives off a modern speakeasy vibe, you can see what’s inside, but you know its gonna be good. So mysterious! Making us so curious!

Then, we opened the huge door to a café that just rang the vibe bells in our heads! VIBE VIBE VIBE!

It has a very dark, mysterious ambience and the music playing in the background was alternative rap/ alternative hip hop in multiple languages. 

Let’s face it, all Alt music is a superior vibe. 

Their interior design had a sort of industrial theme with Asian influences.

Like on the industrial brick wall were carefully curated Asian art pieces, on the other wall was a huge Chinese derived mural and hanging from the ceiling, were traditional rattan woven decorations.

They have tables to cater to small groups, large groups and even solo eaters who just want to enjoy the vibes and the food silently without talking to anyone else. 

Yes, it is definitely a vibe!


+ Food

I mean even their food is vibey la. It is presented in ceramic bowls that honestly matched the whole vibe that the café was going for. Here’s what we had:

Their Fried Beef Fillet is actually minced beef which is fried to perfection with their signature wasabi-sauce-topped rice.

The beef is minced so that you can enjoy the flavours of the beef without the tough texture of the beef. It makes it much easier to eat and chew. 

Next is the Sichuan Pepper Shrimp with Egg. Sichuan is a chilli from China bring the Chinese elements to the Japanese rice bowls.

This dish has three layers, shrimp, minced meat and the last layer is an egg. The combination of all these different textures and flavours will leave you wanting more! 

The sensational Garlicky Roe Crab! The way this dish is designed was inspired from how the owner normally avoids eating crabs because he’s too lazy to deshell the crab.

To make it more convenient for the customers to enjoy the crab meat without having to get their hands dirty, this dish only has the crab meat and no shell. Wah so kind of him, thank you thank you!

This dish has a perfectly paired garlicky butter taste and is topped with roe to enhance the texture. 

Their Tomyam Custard Salmon Flakes is a must try!

The tomyam custard is actually a sauce of their own creation made out of tomyam, mayonnaise, lime leaf and… aik, don’t even think that we’re gonna share what their secret sauce is made up of, even we were not given the full recipe! 

Since mayo is one of the ingredients, it has the risk of starting to taste jelak after a while, they decided to add some homemade wasabi dressing to the rice to ensure that you don’t feel jelak after taking a few bites. 

The Piquancy Oyster with Squid rice bowl is an acquired taste that only the real foodies would like. It has an oyster blanket and squid that covers the rice. So, it might be a little too much for some people.

It has a gingery and spicy taste to balance out the fishy taste.

Seto Fumi Chicken Thigh, absolutely juicy and flavourful.

The White Asparagus soup is a creamy and thick asparagus soup with clam.

Smoke Duck Potato Salad that is so smooth and velvety, it melts in your mouth!

The truffle saturated Trufflin Cold Capellini! The owner took months of experimenting to perfect this recipe. 

The main item in this dish is the truffle, truffle oil is used to prepare it and it is also topped with truffle paste. All their truffle is locally sourced.

While the café does focus on rice bowls, they have this capellini dish for customers who prefer noodles over rice. 

Cheese Bake Crab is topped with torch melted cheese. Taste so cheesy and savoury.

+ #OOTD Spot 

To be honest, we think this whole place is an #OOTD spot but if you want us to directly pinpoint a location, we would definitely say outside the cafe. 

At the entrance of the cafe, they have two #OOTD spots. The first one is a bench with potted plants on both sides and the second one is perfect for a mirror selfie.

We can also assure you that the lighting outside is good. 

So, make sure you wear nice nice baju when visiting!


+ The Talented and Dedicated Man Behind Clock Eleven

Did you know that this café originally started off as a dessert place? Ya, well after the MCO, the owner had some time to think about his business and how it could do better. 

After thorough research, he found out that the demand for rice bowls is actually quite high, especially since we live in Malaysia! So, he decided to completely change his entire menu! 

And guess what? He created the entire new menu on his own! 

Everything you tatse was created from one man's passion, dedication and determination.

So, if you’re craving some rice come and try the oriental rice bowls served at Clock Eleven, it has good food, good music and good vibes for sure!
