We all know Grab as the app that gets us from point A to B, or brings our favourite meals right to our doorstep. But behind every ride and delivery, there’s a person — a story, a dream, and a journey worth sharing.
That’s exactly what Rakan Grab Jelajah ASEAN, Grab Malaysia’s new web-series with KS Lagi, is all about.
Rakan Grab Jelajah ASEAN
The three-part series follows three Malaysian Grab driver- and delivery-partners as they travel to Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam for the very first time. Along the way, they meet fellow Grab partners and discover how, no matter where we are in ASEAN, the same spirit of resilience, connection, and determination drives us all forward.
Hosted by Shahril Hamdan from the popular local YouTube channel KS Lagi, the series captures more than just scenic moments — it’s about the human connection that keeps this region moving. These are the everyday people who inspire the technology behind Grab’s superapp — the ones who know their cities best, understand their communities deeply, and help shape the innovations we see today.
“Visiting our fellow Grab countries gave me a deeper appreciation of how driver- and delivery-partners across ASEAN share the same drive to provide for their families, serve their communities, and keep moving forward. Even though our cities are different, the spirit is the same. It’s inspiring to see how technology connects all of us in that shared journey,” shared Muhamad Syukri bin Ghazali, a Malaysian Grab driver-partner who took part in the series.
Perfect Timing
This web-series couldn’t have come at a better time — coinciding with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
Premiering on October 22, 2025 at GSC Lalaport, the event was attended by Shahril Hamdan from KS Lagi.
“Our driver- and delivery-partners are the pulse of our ecosystem,” said Adelene Foo, Managing Director of Grab Malaysia. “They inspire the technology we build — technology that is inclusive, sustainable, and designed for the region.”
And true to that, Grab’s innovation goes far beyond just rides and food deliveries.
Driven by its mission to future-proof livelihoods, Grab has introduced several innovations that reflect both smart technology and genuine human connection:
AI Driver Companion – helps drivers find demand faster and drive more efficiently.
AI Merchant Assistant – a smart tool that streamlines daily tasks and helps small businesses grow.
GrabMaps – an AI-powered map built with real driver insights for more accurate routes and addresses.
Grab’s commitment to creating smart yet human-centred technology is perfectly aligned with ASEAN’s push to integrate artificial intelligence into national strategies — showing how a homegrown platform can make technology accessible to all.
In Malaysia, this also supports initiatives like the Gig Workers Bill and encourages greater EV adoption to promote a more sustainable mobility ecosystem.
Breaking Down Barriers to Equality
Beyond technology, Grab continues to champion inclusivity — creating more opportunities for women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to thrive within its ecosystem.
“Behind every ride and delivery are real people and livelihoods. Our responsibility is to ensure technology drives inclusion and opportunity for all communities, while strengthening the foundations of sustainable growth,” concluded Adelene Foo.
As Malaysia passes the ASEAN Chairmanship to the Philippines, Grab reaffirms its commitment to driving the region forward through technology, innovation, and collaboration. Together with governments across ASEAN, Grab aims to ensure its partners’ livelihoods are not only protected but strengthened and ready to thrive in the digital age.
Through Rakan Grab Jelajah ASEAN, we’re reminded that technology isn’t just about progress — it’s about people. It’s about empowering communities, supporting livelihoods, and proving that no matter how different our roads may look, we’re all moving in the same direction: forward, together.
So if you’re looking for something uplifting to watch, this is it. The first episode of Rakan Grab Jelajah ASEAN is now streaming exclusively on KS Lagi’s social media platforms — and trust us, it’s one you’ll want to share.
