Netizens Question Media For Only Focusing On Paralympians Who Won Medals In An Interview, Abandoning The Rest

It goes without saying that our Malaysian athletes deserve all the recognition in the world for the sweat, blood, and tears that they put in towards achieving their goals. Too often we'd see our athletes apologizing and shedding tears whenever they feel they did not perform their best for fear of being a disappointment to their country— which breaks our heart to think when their sole participation and dedication is enough to make  Malaysia proud.

In a video edit made by user @agituw on TikTok, a team of Paralympic athletes can be seen posing at the airport before all the cameras and journalists, but amidst the celebration of victory, one Paralympic athlete, Ridzuan Puzi is seen slowly fading into the background as journalists rush to interview those who won medals.

The comment section is swarmed by empathetic messages by Malaysians who sympathized with the situation.

One particular comment, however, assured that after the interview, the paralympic athlete was indeed swarmed with fans who wanted to take pictures with him.

Perhaps it's the tone of the edit that makes the video sadder than it should be, or it could even be due to the music. Regardless of that, one thing is for sure: our Paralympic athletes deserve so much more.
