A workplace is like high school, there are the popular ones, the smart ones, the boss’s pets and then there’s you, just another co-worker trying to fit it. 

Just like high school, there are people who like you and people who don’t. People who don’t like you could make it their aim to defeat you or just give you’re the cold shoulder all the time, however, it is always clever to keep and eye on them. 

So, here are some of the signs that your co-worker or co-workers hate you: 

1. They completely ignore you

There could only be 2 people including yourself in a room but when you co-workers come in, they just greet the other person and pretend like you are part of the wall. They avoid talking to you, smiling at you, or even looking at you. It’s almost like they are holding something against you and pushing hard to avoid a good relationship with you.

2. You’re never invited to social events

Part of working together is also doing after work social gatherings together. Whether its for dinner or for some drinks, it always feels nice to go out with your co-workers and let off a little steam. If they always leave you out when inviting others for gatherings, it’s a sign that you clearly aren’t their favourite. 

3. They avoid face-to-face conversations

If you notice that your co-workers often send you messages over WhatsApp or email even though happen to be sitting next to your or just a few steps away from your desk. You might even notice that most of their emails seem rather short and sharp. It could be because they don’t like being around you or speaking to you and would go out of their way not to. 

4. They start rumours or make little jokes at your expense

It’s always fun to hear a little innocent office gossip or humour, but when you keep being the butt of the joke or people keep spreading horribly untrue rumours about your then maybe someone really hates you. If you keep hearing people giggling around you or while looking at your, then you better find out what the rumour or joke is about and set things straight. 

5. They constantly get defensive around you or constantly disagree with you

Someone on the defensive is concerned with justifying their actions or words. It could be because they don’t really trust you and feel the need to protect themselves. Besides that, when you try sharing your ideas or your opinion, you always get shot down. There could even be times when you haven’t even finished your sentence.
