As a result of Covid-19, the Malaysian government has announced a series of relief to reduce the financial burden of Malaysians.
The government has announced a three-month deferment of PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund Corporation) loan repayments in which this would be in effect promptly until June 30. According to Datuk Dr. Noraini Ahmad (Minister of Higher Education), this decision was made based on the effect of Covid-19 on the economy. The slowdown of the economy has caused a reduction in income on borrowers. She added that all the borrowers would be exempted from any legal action in line with the deferment of all borrowers.
The final day to file the different income tax return forms (BNCP) has been prolonged by two months from the initial deadline. The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) announced that the decision was made to facilitate the submission of tax returns affected by the Movement Restriction Order. The taxpayers are also recommended to submit their BNCP forms and tax payment via ezHASIL, IRB’s online platform. All IRB premises in the country would be closed during the Movement Control Order period. Should the taxpayers have any problems with income tax issues, they can enquire via Hasil Care Line at 03-8911 1000 or 603-8911 1100 (overseas).
