All aboard... but only if you dare. From creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar of Dark comes 1899, a new mystery-thriller series thats about to set sail. At the end of the 19th century, passengers journey from London to New York, looking forward to a new life that awaits them in the New World. When their ship comes across another one adrift at sea, all their hopes and dreams turn into an unexpected nightmare. 

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes look, showrunners Friese and Odar take viewers inside the storm of the new series. Using the Volume technology, – a surrounding wall of high-definition LED panels – 1899 crew members and actors get to experience being lost at sea all from a soundstage, without solely relying on green screens. "It's like the biggest TV you'll ever see, and we just act in front of it," Pimentão says. "It would be a totally different experience if we're doing this on green screen," Beecham adds. "You could see the whole landscape in front of you and the lighting –  you're really looking at the sea."
