Malaysian police are currently searching for a 4-year-old beggar who ran up to a welfare officer, begging to be rescued from whom, the police believe, is an abusive drug addict she refers to as "father".

The poor little girl can frequently be seen begging along the street of Chow Kit with her grandmother. When the welfare officer found her, her face was covered with bruises, eyes swollen and streaming with tears, as reported by Kosmo MY. 

The "father" demanded RM 6000 as compensation for the girl, to which the welfare officer refused, saying the police had entrusted the child to be under her care. Furious, the man quickly snatched the girl away and disappeared. 

It is truly heartbreaking to imagine the ordeal that this child has to endure, when she has the rights to be provided security, a roof over her head, and food on the table— at the very bare minimum. We hope this child will soon be found and be given the proper care she deserves.
