Celebrate Pride Month with These LGBTQ Movies on Netflix

17-Jun-2021
By MJC97

I know pride month is going to be over soon but let’s be honest we’ve all been too busy and preoccupied with work and COVID-19 to partake in any of the celebrations.

Here’s my suggestion: you can also celebrate safely at home by just cuddling in bed with your pet or significant other or even by yourself and enjoy a good LGBTQ+ movie. Also, et yourself a cute little fluffy rainbow blanket, show your support to the community!

Here are some LGBTQ+ movies that you can watch this month:

1. Happiest Season

This movie combines two things that I absolutely love, the holidays and LOVE! Abby and her girlfriend Harper go back to visit Harper’s family for the holidays. Abby has something big planned but then, she finds out that Harper’s family doesn’t know that she’s a lesbian.

2. Brokeback Mountain

Secrets, marriage and love. Two cowboys fall deeply in love with each other in the wild west. Imagine that! A gay cowboy couple! Well, thing will get more complicated when each of them gets married to their respective girlfriends.

3. King Cobra

King Cobra is a 2016 American biographical film about the life and early career of former gay pornographic film actor Brent Corrigan/ Sean Paul Lockhart. So, most of what is shown here Is actually true! There’s action, mystery, murder and some NSFW scenes.

4. Sweet Boy

This is a Thai movie about a young teenage boy who is struggling with his sexuality while also feeling guilty about being gay while also facing the questions about the morality of his homosexual.

5. Holding the Man

Another true story about Tim Conigrave, an Australian actor and his relationship with his fifteen-year partner John, which began in grade school and survived parental resistance, separation, discrimination, temptations, jealousies and losses.

6. Ride or Die

How far would you go for love? After enduring her abusive husband for years, Nanae get her lover Rei to murder him. With him dead, she finally gets the freedom she always wanted but at the same time, even though they are on the run.
