Malaysian cuisine is back on the international stage! Although it didn't win the grand prize this time, as many as 8 local noodles made the list!
According to Guangming Daily, the international food website TasteAtlas recently released the 2024/2025 global top 100 noodle dishes rankings. Malaysia has 8 dishes on the list, among which Mee Bandung from Muar, Johor, has even made it to the 5th place in the world!
Mee Bandung has a 4.6-star rating. The official description says that it is a Malay noodle dish that originated from Muar. The yellow noodles are served with a spicy sauce made from chili, onion, shrimp paste and dried shrimp, and topped with boiled eggs, shrimp, fish cakes, vegetables, and sometimes beef. Finally, lime juice is squeezed on top to enhance the flavor. It is full of flavor!
The 26th-ranked Laksam from the East Coast of Malaysia received the second highest score with a rating of 4.4 stars! This East Coast specialty noodle dish (Kelantan + Terengganu classic) is made with thick white sauce and white flat noodles. It is smooth and rich, and many people fall in love with it after one bite!
