TRAGIC: 11yo Child From Putrajaya Dies After Falling From 7th Floor

PUTRAJAYA: An 11-year-old girl died after she was believed to have fallen from the seventh floor of an apartment in Precinct 5 here yesterday.

Putrajaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner A Asmadi Abdul Aziz, said the police received a report on the incident at 6.55pm.

The child was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the Putrajaya Hospital.

According to him, the victim is believed to have fallen from the seventh floor of the apartment while in the locked bedroom alone while following the Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR).

He said the initial investigation found that at the time of the incident, the victim was at home with her 14-year-old sister and 7-year-old brother while her parents went out to work.

"The window grilles in the room were also unlocked and there were only latches without locks while the house was also not equipped with a closed-circuit camera (CCTV)," he said.

Asmadi said the victim's parents who returned from work at 6pm found the victim's room locked from the inside.

According to him, after opening the door with a duplicate key, the victim was found not in the room and the windows and grilles were open.

He said the victim's parents rushed down to the ground floor of the apartment and found people gathered to see their daughter lying on the floor.

"The victim who was in critical condition was given emergency treatment by the Fire and Rescue Team (JBPM) at 6.45pm and taken to Putrajaya Hospital by ambulance.

"The results of the examination in the victim's room found no criminal elements and the doctor's examination found that the victim broke both elbows and left leg while the cause of death will be known after the autopsy is conducted."

"The victim died at the hospital at 7pm and the case is classified as sudden death and investigations are still underway to find out the real cause of the incident," he said.
