A senior citizen in his 70's has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 7-year-old that was under his wife's care, who works as a babysitter. 

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the 70-year-old suspect was believed to have committed the act three times since October 2020.

The victim's father lodged a police report after learning of the incident from his eight-year-old son and the suspect was soon detained at his house shortly after. "The suspect admitted to committing the act out of his own volition while at his residence," Fakhrudin said. 

The victim is currently being examined and her medical report, issued by the University of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC), is currently being used as the aid for the ongoing investigation.

"The doctor's initial examination found that there was an element of obscenity against the victim." Fakhrudin further explained. The case is being investigated under Section 15 (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017.
