GUA MUSANG - About 70 Orang Asli families in three villages in Pos Bihai here are worried about the threat of three tigers who have been roaming freely in their villages since last Friday.  

The tigers were seen in the areas of Kampung Remau, Kampung Bayor and Kampung Bujok here. Most of the residents in the village do not dare to do any of their daily activities including gathering resources and food from the forest.  

A resident of Kampung Remau, Hassan Achoi, 55, said that 17 families in the village had moved to Kampung Tendrik after seeing the three tigers that were around their settlement area.  

"We saw for ourselves the tiger which is very large in size and its footprints are wide. 

"Before any unwanted incident happens, it is better for us to move to another village first because we are worried that the incident of a resident being clawed by a tiger that happened in early July would be repeated," he said when met by reporters here yesterday.  

Meanwhile, a resident of Kampung Tendrik, Pelinejon Assut, 38, also hoped that the authorities could catch the tiger immediately and provide appropriate assistance to the affected residents. 

He said members of the Wildlife Department of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks had gone to the village to investigate and efforts to catch the tiger were still underway, including by setting traps.  

Earlier, an Orang Asli farmer, Adin Andok, 48, who lives in Kampung Badak, Pos Bihai here, was badly clawed by a female tiger called Syamilla Bihai when he was in his cassava orchard at 3pm on July 5.
