Lady Mistakenly Transfers Money, Receiver Denies Ever Receiving It

You know how once our paycheck comes in, we all have a tendency to overspend?

Therefore, we frequently transfer our salaries to our other bank accounts instead.

Huang, a 54-year-old Singaporean lady, experienced that, but it wasn't her day when she realised she had unintentionally sent RM9,461 to the wrong bank account number.

The incident occurred at 7 a.m., when she was making the transfer with the lights in her living room turned off. When she realised the mistake, she immediately told her son and even contacted the bank.

All they said was that she would have to wait a week while the bank processed her case and would get in touch with the other party; however, it may take up to three weeks before she gets her money back.

Huang didn't have any information on the recipient, but after telling a friend about her situation, they were able to track down the person.

It turned out that the bank account belonged to a flower shop she had previously visited, and her last communication with them took place in November 2021.

She attempted to call them, but no one ever answered her calls. As a consequence, she texted them about the matter, and they denied receiving the money and claimed she had called the wrong number.

Even though Huang gave a screenshot of the bank transfer, the other party has just read her texts and has not responded.

And when she attempted to phone them again, the call couldn't go through.

She almost seems ready to give up at this point, as she has little hope of ever getting her money back.

In connection with this, a lawyer who was contacted by a publication highlighted that if the other party does not return the affected party for the money that was inadvertently transferred, they risk being sued and charged with theft.

To eventually get her money back, Huang might have to file a police report or perhaps initiate a legal case against the other person.

However, when Huang called her bank to inquire about the progress of her case, they informed her that after sending the other party two letters on the matter, they have not yet heard back from them.

Hopefully, the other party would have some sympathy and return back Huang's money.

Make sure to double-check the account number before making a transfer, guys!
