Meeting the in-laws, whether it is the 1st or the 100th time can be a little awkward and nerve-racking. You are always overthinking about what you're going to say, worrying that you might say the wrong thing until you end up not saying anything at all. 

That's not really a good 1st impression, is it? So, a Twitter user, @localrkyt decided to ask all the married couples or soon-to-be-married couples about what are some of the topics that are suitable to talk about with their in-laws.

Translation: Ask them what they do in their free time. Ask if there are a lot of food shops nearby, how many years they've lived in the area...

Translation: Cooking recipes & how to care for plants

Translation: Talk about the route leading to their house. The journey here was very long, are there any other alternative routes?

Translation: Random things. What they cooked today, recipes, cultural differences, your partner's attitude when they were young... 

Translation: Ask them how they are, where they are from, previous jobs, and your partner's favourite food, was it hard raising your partner, and what are they doing now. Find out what they like first then you can elaborate on that and make the conversation last for 24 hours.

Translation: Based on my experience, we started talking about health, maybe because I am a nurse and they are the type who take good care of their health. 

Translation: If it's a conversation between a woman and her mother-in-law, start by asking them how they are, then ask if they have eaten or not. If she cooked, compliment her cooking. Then after a while, start making fun of some of your partner's behaviour but then include a few compliments about your partner too. Tell her that he always thinks about her. 

Translation: Ask about your partner's favourite food and ask them to teach you how to cook it. 

Translation: The rainy season is here, isn't it? It always rains in the evening.
