Owners of BMW luxury cars that use registration numbers not according to specifications or'fancy' as spread on social media today, were fined RM300.

The Owner of a BMW has been slapped with an RM300 fine for using a "fancy" registration number, which was exposed in an 11-second viral video.

Head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said his department had received a complaint regarding that particular car. "Our investigation found that the driver of the vehicle, who is revealed to be a 32-year-old woman, had admitted that the vehicle was, in fact, hers," he said. 

"A summon has therefore been issued based on the offense that her registration number was not in accordance with the correct specifications and the driver has since changed back to its original registration number," he added.
