A shocking incident involving the mistreatment of a dog has recently caused a storm on social media, whereby the poor canine was seen being tied and dragged by its leash behind a Proton Saga.
The driver, which also happened to be the dog’s owner, claimed that he was “unaware” of the situation until a fellow road user had alerted him.
He then filed a report at Machang Bubok Police Station, explaining that his brother-in-law was the one who tied the dog up, in order to prevent it from straying into their neighbour’s house.
The dog was reportedly dragged for nearly 1km on the road, resulting in multiple injuries to its feet which required extensive medical attention.
According to SPCA, the dog is to remain under their care and will not be returned to its owner until the case is over.
While the man expressed his regrets on the situation, angered netizens wondered how he couldn’t have noticed the dog, including calling out the brother-in-law for tying it up in the first place.
