WHAT?! 6 Shocking ‘Healthy’ Foods Which are Actually Fattening

22-Aug-2021

Strongly standing against fat-shaming and societal beauty standards, deep down we all want to look as well as feel our best. This inherently includes, eating healthy, feeling healthy and looking healthy.

With that, usually comes our aspirations to maybe do more workouts, or choose to eat foods which are of lower caloric value/less fattening.

However, did you know that there is a rather long list of foods, which we have taught to be healthy, but are actually fattening in nature? What are they? Well, here's 6 of them which look and feel healthy, but in actuality contains more calories than you think.

Check it out.

#1 Granola

Granolas are often healthy people's go-to for breakfast. They are filling and contain oats, nuts, seeds, coconuts, so on and so forth. Great as that sounds, a ton of them also contain a butt-load of added sugar, rendering this option more on the fattening side.

So, pick wisely.

#2 Smoothies

Another option for health-freaks, smoothies can be very good and healthy in general. However, again, many of them contain so much more sugar than is needed for the body.

As a matter of fact, some premade smoothies have almost up to 14 teaspoons of sugar in just a 450ml bottle! Maybe a homemade version would be the better choice?

#3 Yogurt

Yogurt is healthy, but low-fat yogurt and flavoured yogurt? Not so much. They are high in sugar, and this will only increase your calorie intake. Instead, opt for Greek yogurt or plain yogurt. Definitely less fattening.

#4 Cereal

When inspecting all the important details on a box of cereal, be sure you're taking in whole grains, fiber and protein, and not derailing your health with an excessive amount of sodium or sugar.

Many cereals contain more of the wrong stuff than the right, so you may want to double check.

#5 Energy bars

It's right there in the name; energy bars, are good for gaining energy. As in, when you're doing a workout or exercising, and need a boost. They are not an option to have for breakfast, or if you are running out of time for an actual meal.

Only loaded with sugar, they are 100% more fattening than you would like to believe.

#6 Condiments

Chili, BBQ, Mayo, Ranch, Thousand Island, Mustard, Ketchup, the list can go on and your weight will probably go up. Condiments are probably the worse of the bunch. They are high in calories, in sugar, in salt and so many other additives.

For a healthy body, avoid taking any with your food, and if you really must, then maybe just the bare minimum.

And that's your list!
