In a recent Facebook post, a traffic officer known as Abam Trafik shared an incident where he encountered a driver without a license attempting to avoid a penalty by falsely claiming his vehicle was out of gas and urgently needed refuelling.

The incident took place during a highway checkpoint operation, where the driver, in a bid to escape a potential fine, utilized the emergency lane to overtake numerous vehicles and approach the officer.

Expecting to outsmart the authorities, the driver's first words upon seeing the officer were, "Excuse me, officer, can you tell me where the nearest gas station is? My car is running out of fuel, and I need to refuel immediately."

Abam Trafik, however, noticed that the fuel gauge in the vehicle did not indicate a low level, revealing the deception. He informed the driver that a gas station was just 3 kilometres ahead, prompting the driver to express gratitude hastily and attempt to accelerate away.

Realizing the ruse, the officer intercepted the driver, requesting identification. As suspected, the driver only possessed an ID card and lacked a driver's license.

The officer highlighted the driver's nervous demeanour as a giveaway, confirming the suspicion. Consequently, a fine was issued for driving without a license.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had resorted to the false claim of an empty gas tank due to the fear of facing legal consequences for driving without a license.

Upon clarification that fines for driving without a license could be settled directly at the traffic police counter, the driver's anxiety eased.

Abam Trafik concluded by urging the public to adhere to traffic rules, emphasizing the potential dangers of illegal actions that could jeopardize the safety of other road users.

The officer expressed bewilderment at individuals choosing not to obtain a legal driver's license. He emphasized that the cost of a traffic ticket is comparable to the price of a gram of gold, and accumulating fines over a year could equate to a substantial amount.

The Facebook post sparked discussions among netizens, with many acknowledging the professionalism of law enforcement and advising those in violation to admit their mistakes willingly to avoid more severe consequences.

In closing, the post conveyed a message to individuals attempting to outsmart the system, cautioning them against becoming the subject of ridicule and emphasizing the benefits of acknowledging wrongdoing for potential forgiveness.
