Based on a viral TikTok video, an office in Beijing is filled with employees from China who speak Malay fluently and we think that’s amazing.
The video, shows an employee of the company (China Media Group, Beijing) introducing the company and noting how they all speak malay. She also introduces a Malaysian colleague, and together they take a tour of the office.
One employee Rosanah talks about how she started learning Malay in 2009 when she was studying at university, and had her Malay name given by a lecturer.
Another employee, Melur talks about how their names are usually gender-inclined, women get names similar to flowers.
Based on Isa (the Malaysian employee)’s boss, Isa is the only Malaysian employee in the company and he has helped his fellow colleagues a lot.
“I feel so happy with all my colleagues who can speak the language, it feels like I’m in Malaysia. I thought I would be working with people who speak Mandarin, but when I got here in this company, everyone speaks Malay, which has made things very fun for me”, he said.
