When it comes to Asian culture, one of our mutual practices is taking off our shoes before entering our homes or at public spaces.
Besides being a gesture of respect, it’s also associated with hygiene aspects.
Thanks to social media, even westerners are now accustomed to the practice, and it’s truly endearing to see.
In a video shared by a grocery store owner, she recently encountered such a sight after two tourists gladly removed their shoes before entering the premise.
As she hilariously shared the story, she noted that there were several others in the past who did the same thing- and she wondered why.
That was until another tourist pointed out that they initially thought the store was a “no-shoes” premise due to the doormats at the entrance, which they assumed it to be just like entering a house.
The video has received hilarious reactions by viewers, as they said her store must have looked pristine that they didn’t have the heart to ruin the floors.
Jokes aside, many have lauded the tourists for being respectful of Asian culture- calling their gesture very welcoming.
