A pregnant woman from Singapore endured the pain of uterine contractions to attend her idol Taylor Swift's concert. After 13 hours of labour following the concert, she successfully gave birth to a baby girl.
According to the report, 29-year-old Natalie Wong began feeling uterine contractions and labour pains at 8 a.m. on Monday, the 4th of March. She and her 29-year-old husband, Justyn Goh, decided not to cancel their plans to attend the concert after getting permission from their obstetrician.
"I was having contractions once every 15 to 30 minutes in the morning. We checked with the doctor, and the doctor gave us the green light to go (to the concert) as she said it wasn't very urgent to head to the hospital yet," said Natalie.
Biting through the pain
Natalie mentioned that during the three-hour concert, her uterine contractions came and went, requiring her to sit or stand at times. She stated, "My energy was at about 60 per cent throughout the show, but thankfully I could sit down when I had a contraction."
She explained that during the last few songs of Taylor Swift's performance, she felt the frequency of her uterine contractions increasing to every five minutes, prompting her to consider whether it was time to head to the hospital.
"I was really trying to 'tahan' and persevere through the pain. I thought to myself, 'Am I really going to make it through this?'" she added.
Her husband, on the other hand, wasn't as calm. He recalled being worried about his wife and asking her multiple times if they should leave the concert and go to the hospital.
When Emma falls in love
After the concert, the couple had time to eat before heading to the hospital. Natalie successfully gave birth to a baby girl named Emma at around 4 p.m. the next afternoon.
The couple loved the name Emma, which is why they picked the name for their daughter. Only later did they realize that it coincidentally matched one of Taylor Swift's song titles, "When Emma falls in love."
It's A Coincidence
Natalie pointed out that her obstetrician had initially mentioned a due date of March 4th, but when they purchased Taylor Swift concert tickets last year, they were unaware of the pregnancy. She stated, "It was such a coincidence."
Despite the unexpected turn of events, she hopes that Taylor Swift will visit her and her baby after sharing her story.
Having waited for her idol for 15 years and enduring labour pains to watch Taylor Swift's concert, Natalie expressed her disbelief, saying, "It's so surreal. My body is still aching from the stitches, but I'm really happy."
