According to Sin Chew Daily, a Malaysian woman posted on Threads that she dropped out of school at the age of 16 and did not take the SPM, so her highest academic qualification is only a PMR. Although she has the skills of tailoring and fashion design, when she was looking for a job, almost every job required at least an SPM diploma.
So she plucked up the courage to ask netizens:
"Can I still register for SPM as a private candidate? I don't do this for further studies, but to improve myself and increase my job opportunities."
She admitted that she had been relying on her skills to make a living in the past few years, but every time she saw "SPM required" when looking for a job, she realized the importance of the SPM diploma and it also inspired her to start over.
